How do I look after a freshly restored piece? | Use a soft cloth to wipe or dust, if there is a need to use a soap or detergent wipe dry after removing soap just as you would do on your hands or face. |
Can I use chemicals to clean my restored furniture? | No. |
Can I put a hot pizza box, hot plate, cup of coffee or anything hot on my restored tabletop? | No, if it feels hot to scold your hand the chances are it will damage your table top. Always use coasters and placemats. Never bring really hot dishes from the oven or stove near the table. |
Can I use a scourer of abrasive on restored furniture? | No. |
Can I leave water or spilt drink on the surface? | It is recommended that water is not left on the surface for more than a few minutes and that beverages be wiped off when split within a few minutes. Wipe alcohol drinks off immediately. |
Can I use any products to preserve the finish? | Yes after a few weeks of receiving it, you can use a recommended furniture oil or beeswax. |
Can I have my furniture restored using a harder finish? | Yes, we provide different types of coatings to suit the furniture or use. |
What are the chances of a chair breaking if it falls backwards? | Pretty damn high! Also never lean back or sideways on just 2 legs on a chair. A chair will become at least 20 times weaker when the legs are sideways to any angle past vertical. |
On a really hot day, can I leave furniture near a window in the sun? | It is not recommended to place furniture in direct sun at any time in the hotter weather. The finish can blister and become, Sun Burnt. |
Are you able to assist me in buying or acquiring furniture or collectables? | Yes, if you see something somewhere you want whether it is on Facebook or at a stall and you want our advice or knowledge we are happy to help at no charge. |
What is the best way to have my furniture appraised for possible restoration? | If it is small and manageable it is best to bring it in and if it is a large piece we will come out to where it's located. |
How do I know what will need to be done in the restoration process.? | We talk through the history of the piece, and the intended use and from that we will establish what work is needed to be done. |
What choices do I have in regards to the type of finish to be used? | Normally we look at the type of wood or material itself, the décor it is to be placed with, and the use of the piece then we talk about, the colour or stain and strength of the finish. |
How old or new is the furniture that can be restored? | The age can be any just as long it is able to be repaired or restored we are happy to help you with the process. |
How do I get my furniture to you for restoration? | If you are able to bring it in yourself that is ideal if not we can organize it to be collected and in most cases we can collect it at the time we appraise it. |
How do I care for my furniture at home after restoration is complete? | It will be as simple as either a damp cloth on the hard type finish and other finishes either an oil or a beeswax at certain intervals rubbed on and buffed off to preserve. |
What hot or cold things or types of drinks can I place on a freshly restored finish? | It is always advisable to use placemats for hot drink cups and not to bring hot things out of the oven near the surface. Alcohol spills should be wiped of straight away. |
